Sir Mark Jones, the director of London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, has been chosen as the new master at St Cross College.
Sir Mark will take over mastership of the postgraduate college in St Giles in September next year following the retirement of Prof Andrew Goudie, who has been master since October 2003.
Sir Mark, who specialises in the study of medals, read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Worcester College, Oxford, and was awarded a knighthood earlier this year for services to the arts.
