WITH some lettuce leaves to preserve their modesty two ladies have been encouraging the people of Oxford to eat their greens.
Representatives from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) took to the streets of Oxford this week to mark the end of Vegetarian Awareness Month.
Hailey Jean and Victoria Eisermann wore bikinis made out of lettuce as they handed out ‘not-dogs’, made from vegan sausage mock meat by The Redwood Wholefood Company, in Cornmarket Street.
Peta claims vegetarians live, on average, seven years longer than meat eaters.
Ms Eisermann said eating meat had also been linked to heart disease and attacks, cancer and strokes.
She added: “Going vegetarian is good for your own health, the Earth and animals.
“With so many delicious dishes available, we’re here to show Oxford residents that eating plant-based foods is good for taste buds too.”
