TRICK-or-treaters are being warned not to overstep the mark and frighten elderly people during Halloween.
Police have been posting flyers through doors in the city asking Halloween revellers to respect residents’ rights to be left alone.
They do not want them to persistently ring doorbells, throw eggs and flour at houses or shout abuse through letterboxes.
Extra patrols are being arranged over the weekend to make sure children keep a lid on their antics.
Pcso Stacey Wiggins has been delivering posters in Rose Hill, Iffley and Littlemore this week, which residents can put in their windows to tell trick-or-treaters they are not welcome.
She said: “We still want people to have fun, but we don’t want a minority to spoil it.”
