Police are appealing for information after a woman had her phone snatched from her hand in Banbury.

At about 3.30pm on October 21, the 18-year-old woman was walking along Bath Road when the incident happened.

The woman was walking along the road texting on her phone, when three men walked past her and turned and grabbed her phone, a Blackberry Curve, out of her hand.

The men, thought to be in their late teens, also attempted to take the woman’s iPod from her pocket, but were unsuccessful.

All three men then ran away, along Bath Road and turning into the alleyway besides the tennis courts in People’s Park.

The men were described as white, aged in their late teens and all with a slim build. Two of the men wore grey hooded tops and the third wore a black jacket. All three had their faces covered by their hoods.

PC Rob Kelly said: “I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident, and would urge them to come forward as soon as possible.

“Thankfully the woman was not hurt during the incident, but was left shaken by what happened.

“Did you see three men matching this description in the Bath Road or People’s Park area? Have you been offered a Blackberry for sale? If so, then we would like to hear from you.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Kelly via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
