THE road to Oxford Playhouse is paved with Inca gold for the next three days as the theatre plays host to a production of the drama The Royal Hunt of the Sun.
The play tells the story of treasure-hunters from Spain who go looking for gold and to spread the message of Christianity in the Inca empire in Peru.
Peter Shaffer’s play is being performed at the Beaumont Street theatre by the University of Oxford student company Acorn Productions.

Director Charlotte Beynon said: “What first attracted me was the spectacle and the timelessness of the story itself. The play is spectacular and it has to be.”
There are daily performances at 7.30pm from tonight until Saturday.
