PARENTS and children at Sunningwell Pre-school have more than 7,000 reasons to celebrate.
Last year, the pre-school in the village near Abingdon was left homeless by a burst water pipe but now it is going from strength to strength and has just landed a £7,400 National Lottery grant.
Darren Weston, chairman of the parents’ committee, said: “Basically we’re a pre-school run entirely from charity grants and fundraising.
“So we’re under no illusions. If we don’t find enough money every month, we have to close.”
Late last year a mobile classroom the pre-school was using at Sunningwell Primary School was flooded when a pipe burst.
Mr Weston said: “The community really pulled together and found us a new home in the cricket pavilion. We’re in a more permanent home attached to the school, so it’s fantastic.”
He added: “We’re now on the road to success, and we’re so grateful to everyone who helps with our income, large or small.”
