HAS West Oxfordshire District Council thought its recycling policy through properly?

As a family of five we have a large amount of recycling, which we store in the boxes provided.

Those boxes then have to be carried to the front of the house ready to be emptied. Once full they can be very heavy.

I am aware that the council offers a service to help with this for the old or disabled, but how many people actually ask for this help?

We are now waiting for the delivery of yet another box for food waste, which again will be fairly heavy to carry when full.

I am not opposed to the idea of recycling, in fact I agree with it totally. Oxford City Council hands out wheelie bins for recycling – which are not only easier for householders but also quicker and easier for waste collectors.

I have lost count how many lids (from the boxes) have blown away or been run over by cars. Having a wheelie bin would avoid this and make it easier all round.
