Sir – Many of your readers will be surprised by the bias in your article on the county council cabinet’s decision (Gravel and sand won’t be taken from new areas, October 21). A victory, you say, for villagers in the south of county.

It’s a tragedy for villagers elsewhere, especially in the Lower Windrush Valley, the most heavily dug area in Oxfordshire.

You say nothing of them. It’s bad enough that the council couldn’t care less, but I expected better of The Oxford Times.
