POLICE want to speak to two people after a elderly woman’s bag containing a 70-year-old brooch given to her by her late husband was stolen.
The 89-year-old, who is registered blind, was shopping with a friend at the Co-op in The Square, Botley, at 12.50pm on Tuesday when her handbag was stolen from her trolley.
It contained bank cards, £200 cash and the gold coloured brooch in the shape of two intertwined hearts with ivy leaf detailing. An inscription reads ‘The Lord stayeth between me and thee, while we are absent one from another.’ Pc Richard Watts said: “The brooch is irreplaceable. This is a despicable crime. We would like to speak to these two people in connection with the theft.”
Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505.
