I WAS some what confused by Amanda Williams’s report about lost crutches (Oxford Mail, august 12).

A very good friend of mine who is Scottish has decided to return to Scotland.

As he was packing, he found a pair of walking sticks and a walking aid that he used after the operations on his leg and knee.

He tried to return them to the Nuffield Health Centre in Witney, where answer was, ‘sorry. we cannot accept them, due to health and safety issues’.

They advised him to take them to the local tip.

He then went to Witney Hospital, where, to his amazement, he got the same reply. Rather put out by the answer, he said ‘if you want to dump them, I will leave them in the car park’.

Now if the NHS would like the public to respond to its amnesty, I would suggest the powers that be should be more alert on this matter.

How many more patients have had the same answer when trying to return crutches? I would like to know.
