IT SEEMS that, once again, the UK has to pander to an alien minority, with regard to laws allowing the wearing of the burka.

I am not in favour of the EU and its laws, but in France the burka is banned. That law should also apply to us. Crash helmets are banned in banks and post offices, and youths are asked to turn hoods down in shops and pubs. Now, with increasing terrorist threats we need to be able to see people’s faces.

How can we be sure of the sex of a person garbed in long robes – with only a slit for their eyes?
