Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of fuel thefts from vehicles in West Oxfordshire over the past two weeks.

There have been five incidents in total; three in Burford, one in Bampton and one in Chadlington.

PC Rachel Fewtrell, from the Witney priority crime team, said: “In every case the fuel line has been cut and fuel drained from the tank of the vehicle.

“We believe they have all happened overnight.

“I would urge people to be vigilant to this type of offence and report any suspicious people or vehicles to police.”

In this series of offences, thieves stole fuel from cars at the following times and locations:

Between 3.30pm last Monday and 5.55am on Tuesday in New Road, Bampton.

Between last Thursday and Sunday in Windrush Close, Burford.

Between Monday and Tuesday in Windrush Close, Burford.

Between July 21 and Wednesday in East End, Chadlington.

Between last Thursday and Sunday outside the Travelodge in Cheltenham Road, Burford.
