POLICE swapped the beat for the football pitch with youngsters from Oxford for their second annual community match.

Teenagers from Wood Farm, Barton and Risinghurst did battle at Oxford Brookes University on Sunday.

The Wood Farm team emerged winners, beating Barton 6-4.

Wood Farm neighbourhood officer Pc Dan Godden said: “Last year, we had a lot of antisocial behaviour and following the game it declined, so we decided to run it again this year for several reasons.

“One was to engage with the youngsters and we wanted to give them a chance to get involved with something positive. It gives them a chance to see that the police aren’t just people in uniform, they are real people and enjoy the same activities.”
