Police have cordoned off Albert Park in Abingdon following reports of a serious sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.
Officers were called to the park at around midnight and a large part of the area remains closed.
Police said an investigation had been launched and called for witnesses to come forward.
A spokesman said a 16-year-old boy had been arrested and was currently in police custody.
The park was expected to be reopened early this afternoon.
