DELIVERY driver Martin Rawlings and his family have put a big England flag outside their house near Wallingford to get in the mood for the World Cup.

Mr Rawlings, 43, of Evenlode Drive, Berinsfield, lives with his partner Anne-Marie Busby, 22, and sons Tyler, two and Kieran, four.

He said: “I’m an England fan through and through and I have put the 10ft by 9ft flag outside to show our support.

“It was a nightmare when Rio Ferdinand got injured but I still think we have a good squad.”

Meanwhile, families in one Rose Hill road decked out their street in St George’s flags as the World Cup kicked off.

Colin Chambers, 52, came up with the display of support after seeing it in a national newspaper.

He has arranged for more than 20 flags to fly from homes in the street.

Mr Chambers said: “I want to show my support and I’m proud of my team. It’s a feel-good factor.

“My neighbours as well have all got involved. I've been quite surprised by the reaction. One tenant told me it took him back to the jubilee days.”
