Phil Addison is the new the Oxford and District Association Winter League men’s singles champion.

In his first final, he captured the Tom Drennan Memorial Cup by pipping previous winner Preben Krabben (Shears) 2-1 in front of a good-sized crowd at Rover Social Club.

The Marston British Legion player won the first leg, only to see Krabben make it 1-1.

As the decider reached its climax, Addision required 50 with Krabben close behind, and the former hit ten and his favourite double 20 to clinch the crown.

The Lilian Cox Cup ladies singles final saw Nuffield Bar teammates Kim Ledbury and Paulette Guy meet for the second successive year and the result went the same way, as Ledbury triumphed 2-1.

A terrific deciding leg saw Ledbury hit top form, opening up with scores of 95 and 100.

Requiring 100 to retain her title, she needed only two darts – 60, double 20.

The men’s winter pairs went to the Butchers Arms duo Ian Moss and Pete Eagle, who defeated Dave Exell and Kevin Wilkins (Shears, Wanage), while Florence Park’s Jo Gleed and Natalie Creed-Roberts were pipped 2-1 by Nuffield Bar’s Hazel Prowton and Guy in the ladies event.

The men’s Stadium Cup (four-a-side) went to Marston British Legion’s Addison, Ronnie Anderson, Roger Haines and Aaran Stevens, who defeated the Shears, Wantage, quartet of Exell, Wilkins, Jim Pryde and Dave Simmonds.

The Tess Walker Cup ladies triples was won by Nuffield Bar’s Denise Pape (180), Pat Newman and Ledbury, who got the better of Clare Bywaters, Tina Hamilton and Clare Harwood (Florence Park).

Blackbird Bar’s Christine Thompson (180) and Neil Mason took the Peter Bampton mixed pairs, seeing off Margaret Carter and Clinton Cantwell (Folly Bridge Inn).

In the ladies seven-a-side cup, Nuffield Bar defeated Blackbird Bar 4-0, while the men’s equivalent produced the most exciting game of the night as Premier Section champions Marston British Legion C took on Section 2 side Rose Hill Community Centre.

Rose Hill led their illustrious opponents on three separate occasions at 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2, but Legion fought back to win 4-3 when Stevens and Ade Larner captured the last two games.
