Independent financial advisor Simon Neal is selling the Edwardian house in East Oxford that has been his family home and workplace for the past 11 years.

Mr Neal and wife Jane have decided to make a move from their four-bedroom property in Minster Road now that their circumstances have changed.

He explained: “Our elder daughter is off to university in London this October and our younger daughter will start sixth form at Rye St Antony in Headington, so we are looking for somewhere else, although we want to stay in the Oxford area.

“We will miss the house as we have loved living here.

“We like being so close to Cowley Road because it is so cosmopolitan and has plenty of decent restaurants. It is very quiet in Minster Road, we don’t get much traffic at all and it has a great community spirit.

“There are even regular street parties, which is great,” he added.

Mr Neal, who runs Cornerstone Financial Planning, is a regular contributor to BBC radio on the subjects of personal finance and investment.

Since they bought the property, the couple have remodelled and refurbished the interior extensively.

“Our first major alteration was to knock the kitchen and dining room through to create one large kitchen/breakfast room,” added Mr Neal.

“Our aim has been to restore the period features and put the house back to how it would have looked when it was built in 1903.

“For example, when we installed a new bathroom, we wanted modern facilities but in keeping with the history of the house, so we opted for a freestanding bath and a black-and-white tiled floor.

“Jane trained as an artist and is now an art curator so she has an excellent eye when it comes to refurbishing and decorating.

“The house has two sitting rooms, one with a bay, which is incredibly useful for a family with lots going on.”

Ranging over three floors, the house has a black-and-white tiled floor in the entrance hall and both reception rooms have open fireplaces, deep skirting boards and picture rails.

Three of the bedrooms are on the first floor, next to a family bathroom, while the master with an ensuite bathroom including shower cubicle is on the second floor.

Stripped wooden floors, sash windows and panelled doors are among the period features found throughout the property.

At the front of the house is a walled front garden while at the back is a larger garden that includes a patio.

Number 11 Minster Road is on the market for £600,000. For more information, or to arrange a viewing, contact Scott Fraser on 01865 759500 or visit scottfraser.co.uk
