SCHOOLCHILDREN designed posters for a competition asking dog owners to clear up after their pets in an Oxford park.

More than 30 entries were submitted by pupils at Windmill School, in Headington, including designs by Louis Hodgson, eight, left, and Farid Rahman, six, for for the competiton run by the Friends of Quarry Hollow Park.

Four designs have now been laminated and displayed in the area.

Group member Sarah Eddie said: “It was very difficult to judge from more than 30 fantastic entries but we chose four that sent a clear message with an eye-catching design.”

She added: “We really hope that our unusual exhibition will make people stop and think; not only is dog fouling unpleasant it can also be dangerous with bacteria such as toxoplasmosis, which can cause blindness.”

She added: “If you see anyone not clearing up after their dog please contact the dog wardens who do take this problem seriously.”

Reports can be made online via the ‘report it’ page at www.oxford.gov.uk or you can call the city council’s dog warden on 01865 252887 during office hours or 01865 742138 at other times.
