Two boys were robbed at knifepoint by two men in Witney.

At about 9pm on Thursday, an 11-year-old boy and his 13-year-old friend were walking home when they were stopped by two men at the junction of Lyneham Close and Valence Crescent.

The men asked the boys if they had any money, to which they replied they didn’t, before one of the men snatched an iPod from one of the boys.

The man then said he would give it back if one of the boys went and got him some money. One of the boys left to go and get some money, at which time the other boy was threatened with a knife.

The men were eventually challenged by a member of the public and ran away in the direction of Campden Close.

Police said the men were both mixed race, the first was about 5ft 4in tall, medium build and had brown eyes. He was wearing a black jacket and black baseball cap.

The second man was about 6ft tall and of medium build. He was wearing a white shirt, white vest and a white baseball cap with some sort of motif on it. He had a goatee beard.

PC Andy Ball said: “This is a nasty offence where the thieves have targeted young boys. I would urge anyone with information about who is responsible for this crime to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered a lime green iPod Nano for sale since last Thursday.”
