READING about the comedy being enacted at the Beckley TV mast reminded me of the time when we lost our television signal due to the construction of the John Radcliffe Hospital.

I got in touch with the body concerned with radio interference and was told that this was not their problem as it was not interference.

They said curing this problem was the responsibility of the hospital.

They also told me that the council put clauses into all the contracts of construction plans for large buildings that are likely to to throw a shadow over an area, makings it necessary for the builder to rectify any problem.

I contacted the council to ask what was being done and they said they knew nothing about it.

The result was that I had to pay for cable, which did seem a pity seeing that the transmitter is so close.
