Anyone living in Banbury and the surrounding area is invited to celebrate 65 years since VE Day and help raise funds for The Royal British Legion.

McCarthy & Stone’s assisted living development Foxhall Court in School Lane is hosting an event on Friday 7 and Saturday May 8 from 11am-4pm.

There will be a chance to see around the development of 56 one- and two-bedroom retirement apartments, priced from £169,950 plus light refreshments including a glass of bubbly, are provided.

McCarthy & Stone will donate £10 to The Royal British Legion for each visitor and give that person a £10 Marks and Spencer gift card.

Facilities include a security entrance system, guest suite, day manager and each apartment is linked to a 24-hour personal emergency care service.

A similar event takes place at the developer’s sister site at Otters Court in Witney on Saturday May 8 from 2pm-4pm.

Residents and visitors there are invited to enjoy champagne and nibbles, while taking a look around the development. There is also a chance to win a luxury hamper in a raffle to raise funds for The Royal British Legion.

Robin Pike, regional sales and marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone, said: “Anyone who lived through the war will remember what they were doing the day it ended and we wanted to join The Royal British Legion in marking the 65th anniversary of VE Day.

“We hope that our commemorative events will help raise vital funds for the Legion and welcome anyone who wants to come along and join in the celebrations.”

McCarthy & Stone has just nominated The Royal British Legion as its charity of the year.

The Royal British Legion will be officially marking the VE Day anniversary on Saturday May 8 with The Nation’s Greatest Ever Salute. For more information, visit www.britishlegion.org.uk For more information about Foxhall Court, contact 01295 261 114 or visit www.mccarthyandstone.co.uk
