THE chance to lead Oxford United out at Wembley has been put up for auction to boost the team’s transfer budget.
The fans’ 12th Man initiative, which has raised almost £30,000 for new players since last summer, has set up an online auction to be the team’s official mascot on Sunday, May 16.
Only one supporter, who must be under 16, will be allowed on to the pitch with Chris Wilder’s men before kick-off.
12th Man spokesman Mark Sennett said: “This is the chance of a lifetime for one lucky young fan – an experience they will never forget.
“It’s a wonderful gesture by the club to donate this opportunity to the 12th Man and we hope to raise a large amount of money.”
No tickets are included in the prize so the winner must have match tickets.
The auction, which began today, will end on Monday at about 2pm. Go to cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&item=220600689363
