A TAXI firm owner has cleared one of his drivers of any wrongdoing following an incident in East Oxford.

Royal Cars’ boss Naiz Mohammed launched an internal investigation and suspended the driver after Sean Richards, 23, was injured shortly after booking a cab from Pegasus Road, Blackbird Leys.

Mr Richards was injured after the taxi arrived in the road and later needed emergency brain surgery.

Police were called, but after an initial investigation officers decided not to take further action.

Mr Mohammed said he had found no evidence that his driver had done anything wrong and added he had reinstated him.

He said: “We looked at the incident for a week and are now satisfied there was no wrongdoing.

“Our driver is a family man who was working very late to try to earn some money. He is a very honest man.

“Now we are trying to put this whole incident behind us.”

Mr Mohammed added he was unhappy with some comments which have appeared on the Internet in the past week.

He said: “A number of them are highly libellous and untrue and we are monitoring them closely.

“We are a reputable firm that provides a good service in Oxford.”
