Oxford United fans have pledged to ‘raise the roof’ at the Kassam Stadium today and sing their team all the way to Wembley.

More than 11,000 fans are expected for the sold-out play-off clash with Rushden and Diamonds.

A win will take United to Wembley and just one game away from a coveted return to the Football League.

United fan Ryan Wells said he was feeling confident after last week’s away leg draw in Northamptonshire. He added: “The fans have a huge part to play without a doubt.

“We can raise the roof off I reckon and make sure we do it.”

But 15-year-old fan Scott Humphries was feeling a few nerves ahead of the big game. He said: “I am nervous as I really think this will make or break Oxford’s future. If we don’t go up this year we’ll turn into another Cambridge United."

And he said if United played to their potential they should be on the road to Wembley Stadium.

He added: “We need to back the boys and sing throughout the 90 minutes and we will be all right.”

Fans have been advised to arrive early or take public transport to the ground and to respect residents-only parking restrictions in neighbouring streets.
