Lost in a foreign city, this German student wandered the streets of Oxford for four hours until she was hauled inside a house by two men and violently raped, say police.

The 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named, was trying to get back to her host family's house in East Oxford, when she accidentally caught the wrong bus.

CCTV images show the German language student, dressed all in black with a pale complexion, leaving the Oxford Bus Company number 4 bus in Iffley Road before getting lost.

She told police she walked into the early hours of the morning before being grabbed by two men and forced into a nearby house where she was held prisoner and raped.

Yesterday, police appealed directly to three men wanted on suspicion of the attacks to come forward and urged bus passengers or anyone who saw the girl wandering the streets in a distressed state to come forward.

DC Leila Kennett, of Oxford CID, said: "She was very scared and frightened and was trying to find some way to get home she is German and was in a strange country then men came up and she has indicated to us they held her arms and took her into a neighbouring house."

The student was enjoying a week-long visit to Oxford with her school in April when the assault was said to have taken place.

On Thursday, April 13, she left a church service at St Mary Magdalen Church and caught a bus from Queens Lane at 9.40pm.

CCTV footage shows her 10 minutes later getting off the bus outside a Co-op shop on the corner of Iffley Road and Howard Street after realising it was going the wrong way.

She walked, lost and scared, for four hours but police have been unable to discover where she was attacked.

At about 2am she was approached by two men, in an area described as an estate. They grabbed her by the arms and hauled her into a nearby house.

Inside she was raped by one of the men and a third man who appeared inside the house.

Five hours later, on Friday, April 17, one of her rapists, dressed in a red hooded top, walked with her out of the house where she caught a bus to the city centre.

DC Kennett said: "Because of the time she spent walking around after getting off that bus, she could have been in any area nearby so we are struggling to identify a location for what was a serious and extremely traumatising attack.

"I would like to appeal directly to those men possibly involved to come forward to give an account of what happened. We do have forensic evidence which will allow us to easily eliminate people from our enquiry."

The first suspected rapist is described as Asian, over 5ft 7in, slim with facial hair. He wore a red hooded top while another man is only described as being shorter. A second man accused of rape, who was inside the house, was possibly Asian, of medium build and had a short beard.

Anyone with details should call DC Kennett on 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
