A 27-year-old Banbury man was killed after his car left the Oxford-Banbury road near Shipton-on-Cherwell.

The man, who has not been identified by police, was travelling along the A4260 on Sunday when the silver Lexus left the road and went into a field, throwing him from the car.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by the Thames Valley Police air support unit, but later died of his injuries.

Sgt Peter Jell, of Bicester police, said: "I am very keen to speak to anyone who saw a silver Lexus driving south on the A4260 prior to the incident or anyone who may be able to shed light on how the car left the road."

POLICE will be returning to the scene of a car crash which claimed the life of an Oxfordshire doctor tomorrow.

Margaret Davidson, 26, from Oxford, was killed in the head-on collision in Deddington on Thursday.

Officers will be quizzing drivers who might have seen the crash at Hopcroft's Holt on the A4260.

As reported, a blue Vauxhall Nova travelling from Hopcroft's Holt towards Deddington was in collision with a Citroen, driven by Dr Davidson, who had recently started her first job at the Horton Hospital, Banbury.

An 18 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries until July 3.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact Sgt Jell on 0845 8 505 505 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
