Women from Bicester are gearing up to walk 26 miles through the night to raise money for breast cancer research and care.

Jeanette Watts, 46, from Orchard Way, is taking part in the Playtex Moonwalk 2006 with her 16-year-old daughter Rachel, friend Linda Hurley, a lollipop lady at King's Meadow School, and neighbour Trish Kidd, a dinner lady at Bure Park School.

The four women have been busy training and have made decorated bras to wear during the challenge in London over the weekend.

Ms Watts said: "We're all looking forward to it. It's the next best thing to a marathon.

"I think the atmosphere is going to be brilliant. We have had some great training sessions."

She said her team had attracted a lot of attention from passing motorists because of their distinctive Moonwalk T-shirts while pounding the streets of Bicester in preparation for the event.

Mum-of-two Sam Fincham, 36, from Hawks- mead, and friend Annie Allen, 37, from Merlin Way, are also taking part in the moonlit marathon.

Mrs Fincham, who completed the event last year, said: "We have been out training about two or three times a week 21 miles was our longest training route, we walked round and round Bicester.

"Last year it was good but it was very hard work at the end.

"It's a good atmosphere and there are about 15,000 other women doing it too. I'm feeling confident, but I just hope it doesn't rain."
