Darren Kitching and his wife Jemma were so pleased with the maternity unit at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital when their twin daughters were born that they decided to return the favour.
Mr Kitching, 35, who owns the Exclusive hair salon in West St Helen Street, Abingdon, ran the London Marathon - his first - in four hours and 22 minutes raising £2,228 for SSNAP, the charity which supports the special care baby unit at the hospital He said: "When Jemma was in the maternity unit she received such wonderful support when Chloe and Lucy were born that we decided to give something back to the hospital."
He added: "I set myself a target of £2,000 but got an extra £228. I would like to thank customers, family and friends for their outstanding support."
