First it was the iconic Royal Albert Hall now a choir of amateur singers formed for a television documentary have performed a little closer to home.
The £9,000 Glow Tree sculpture was unveiled outside the Blackbird Leys Community Centre in Blackbird Leys, Oxford by Lord Mayor of Oxford Bob Price yesterday.
Amateur group Ivor's Choir, chosen from singers in Blackbird Leys, heralded the opening of the sculpture with its most recent performance since appearing at the Royal Albert Hall last week.
Standing at five metres tall the Glow Tree sculpture is made from recycled metal and is designed by artist Neil Wood with the Blackbird Leys Art Group (Blag) to represent the positive aspects of living in Blackbird Leys and Greater Leys.
Artists hope it will become a popular landmark feature for the estate.
