Arsonists caused a mass evacuation of a tower block after setting fire to a lift.
Residents living in Evenlode Tower, in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, were forced out of their flats after smoke filled the 10th floor at 9.45pm yesterday.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which damaged the lift and control panel, and was believed to have been started deliberately.
No-one was injured and all residents returned to their flats at 10.15pm Police scenes of crimes officers launched an investigation this morning and are appealing for anyone with information to call 08458 505505.
