LED Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and Scottish bands Deacon Blue and Texas have been confirmed for this year's Cornbury Festival, which takes place on Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 9.

Cornbury is Robert Plant's only scheduled UK date this year. Plant was nominated for two Grammy awards this year for his album Mighty Rearranger.

Also in the Saturday line-up are one of the all-time great live bands, Deacon Blue, whose chart-topping first album, Raintown, has been re-released by Sony, and who recently played a sell-out concert to promote the album in London.

With leader Ricky Ross in demand as a songwriter he was one of the writers behind James Blunt's huge success and singer Lorraine McIntosh one of the principal stars of Scottish soap opera River City, performances from the band are rare, but with classic songs like Chocolate Girl, Dignity, Real Gone Kid and Wages Day they remain one of the country's hottest live acts.

Fellow Glaswegians Texas play on Sunday, and are sure to reprise some of their huge hits, such as Say What You Want and Halo.

Also announced to play are The Waterboys and Robyn Hitchcock, who will be backed by REM's Peter Buck and his side project, The Minus 3.

Up-and-coming artists Rocco Deluca and The Burden, Mohair and Nerina Pallot join one of the hits of last year's festival, The Duallers, on the bill.

New to the festival this year will be a Truck Festival stage on Saturday, featuring Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Piney Gir's Country Roadshow, Goldrush, Aberfeldy and Fell City Girl.

On Sunday, the Oxford Folk Festival present the Barnsley Nightingale herself, Kate Rusby, the pre-eminent female folk artist in the country, along with Spiers & Boden, Martin Simpson and Circulus.

More big-name acts are likely to be announced in the coming days.

The festival, which last year drew a crowd of more than 7,000 to see the likes of Joe Cocker and Elvis Costello, is being held in the grounds of Cornbury Park, just outside Charlbury. Ticket prices are the same as last year, at £40 for a single day or £70 for the weekend (children under 10 free). Camping will again be available with double-decker buses and beach chalets available for hire this year.

Tickets are available online at www.cornburyfestival.com or by calling the ticket hotline on 0870 118 1636.
