Kidlington were finally crowned champions of the Oxford Times Cherwell League on Saturday, but some of the gloss was taken off when they lost at Oxford 2nd.

The visitors collected the bonus points needed to secure their first league title, but were embarrassed by an Oxford side containing seven teenagers. One of youngsters, Patrick Stern, hit a fine 88 not out in the hosts' 208-5. Then spinners Dom Patel (5-58) and Will Dobson (3-56) bowled out Kidlington for 144. Shahbaz Ali and Ross Lupton both scored 48.

Kingston Bagpuize's relegation was confirmed when they crashed to a ten wicket defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Buckingham Town. Put into bat, Kingston were again reliant on Martin Shepherd (56) to give their total a veneer of respectability, although Dominic Pike also chipped in with 50. Rob Large (114no) and Sohail Nasir (66no) took Town to 200 without loss inside 32 overs to boost their survival chances.

Bourton Vale returned to the bottom two after losing in the final over at home to Shipton-under-Wychwood. Tom Judge (89) and James Winstanley (58) saw Vale to a respectable 209-9 in an innings reduced to 46 overs by rain. Paul Hemming took 4-22. Shipton lost eight wickets in reply, but Jon Hartley stood firm to finish on 102 not out and see his side home.

Challow & Childrey stayed on course for the runner up spot after they edged out Dinton in a tight drawn match. Mark Ellison (91) and Glyn Lumb (63) put on 140 for the first wicket, then Ollie Dimbylow hit 56 as Challow posted 277-4. Dinton lost early wickets before Paul Atkins (132) and Neil Spicer (61)added 184 in 26 overs. Both then fell to 15-year-old spinner James Phillips, and despite scoring 18 off the final over, Dinton fell short on 275-8.

Milton Keynes Park could still pip Challow for second place after they overcame Banbury Twenty by four wickets. Chris Long took 4-29 as Twenty were bowled out for just 138. Faisal Khalid ran out of partners to finish on 34 not out. Ken Hollis then hit 39 as Park reached 139-6.
