Oxfordshire are on the brink of becoming the Kaliber Inter-Counties League Division 3 champions after recording a convincing 25-14 victory over Northants at Kettering.

This result, which included three bonus points, puts Oxon ten points clear at the top of the table with just one match to play.

The Ladies B team increased their lead at the top of their section and gave Oxon a tremendous start with a 5-1 win.

They were inspired by lady-of-the-match Babs Manning, who recorded a winning average of 18.05.

The men's B then extended the lead with a 7-5 success. The top award went to Roy Prior (25.23) who just pipped Kevin Wilkins (25.05).

Going into Sunday with a 12-6 lead, the visitors maintained their advantage when their ladies A team drew 3-3 draw.

Team manager Denise Pape was Oxon's best player with 20.04.

Oxon's men's A team secured the victory with a hard-fought 7-5 win which also puts them top of their section.

Man-of-the-match went to Olly Varney led the way with 25.91, while there were other good wins from Roger Haines (25.80) and Nick Cobb (25.85).
