One man died and another was seriously injured in a head-on car crash near Islip this morning.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene just after 8.30am when a red Vauxhall Cavalier and a blue Renault Savannah were involved in a collision.
The driver of the Vauxhall Cavalier was pronounced dead at the scene. The car was on fire when the emergency services arrived. The driver of the Renault was taken to hospital where he was reported to be in a serious but stable condition.
The accident happened in Middle Street, about 200 yards outside Islip. The road between Islip and Merton was closed, as were North Street and Lower Street.
Police were investigating the cause of the accident.
Fire crews from Bicester and Kidlington were still at the scene this morning.
No one else was injured in the incident.
