Tourism in Oxford is expected to get a boost from "set jetters" - people who visit film and television locations - when the new Inspector Morse spin-off starts.
The Randolph Hotel, in Beaumont Street, which has strong links to the popular detective series, is gearing up for a busy time after the one-off TV special Lewis airs on January 29.
The follow-up to Inspector Morse, which was based on the novels of Oxford crime writer Colin Dexter, was filmed in the city in August and stars Kevin Whateley who starred in the original series as John Thaw's police sidekick.
Mr Dexter said: "I was a little apprehensive about the proposed series on Lewis.
"But once I knew that Kevin was to provide the continuity, and Oxford the setting, my worries were as good as over.''
To celebrate the new drama, the first five Morse fans to write to the Randolph Hotel can win a signed copy of Mr Dexter's final novel The Remorseful Day.
To enter the competition, send a postcard to Book Offer, Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Beaumont Street, Oxford, OX1 2LN.
