Thame Utd 1, Burnham 3: Thame United were involved in a classic game of two halves in the Southern League last night.

But they didn't do as well in a first half they dominated - scoring just once - as Burnham did in the second, when they scored three times.

John Mitchell fired Thame in front on 39 minutes when he came in at the far post at a corner and volleyed in.

Mitchell then had another good chance two minutes later but headed over the bar.

Burnham came out like a train in the second half and levelled through Matty Miller in the 49th minute. Ironically, Miller had played for Thame, on loan from Slough, last year.

Thame got back into the match but defensive mistakes cost them as Burnham struck twice in quick succession, through Rob Saunders in the 71st minute and Ryan Bird five minutes later.

New signing Vinny Shreeves came on for the second half and showed some good touches.

Thame Utd: Searl, Lane, Joyce (Caldwell-Smith 82), Freeman, Hocking, Groves, Kitson, Fisher, Mitchell, Spencer (Shreeves 46), Boland. Sub not used: Rhodes.
