Oxford United's hard-earned 2-1 win over Bury on Saturday was marred by an injury to key man Chris Hackett.

The right winger pulled up near the end with a calf injury.

The injury will be assessed today, but he seems certain to miss this week's League Two trips to Rochdale tomorrow and Barnet on Saturday.

"Chris has maybe got a torn calf but we hope not," said manager BrianTalbot.

"He eased up a little because he felt his calf go. There may be a tear there - we hope it isn't serious."

Talbot preferred to look at the positives after his side's victory at the Kassam Stadium, which takes them up to 12th in the table.

It was their first home win since August 10 and only came after another struggle to hold onto a two-goal lead.

Talbot said United's players get nervous at home and he is hoping to find a way of relaxing them more.

"We huffed and we puffed," he said. "We have been here before - in the home game against Rushden.

"The most important thing was the win and the three points, and people will forget about the performance.

"But it is disappointing because when you go 2-0 up you want to try to put on a little bit of a show to make it three and four, but that wasn't to be."

Lee Mansell and Lee Bradbury - from the penalty spot - put Oxford 2-0 ahead after 35 minutes, but managerless Bury pulled a goal back seven minutes from the end and threatened to snatch a draw.

"We had a few anxious moments in the last five minutes," Talbot admitted.

United's manager continued with three centre-backs, the first time he has used that formation at home.

"I am not a big lover of this system but you've got to look at getting the best from the players you've got," he said.

"I am not moaning because it happens to other clubs as well."

"We have got a few players injured and we've got to improvise. To be fair to the players they have taken it on board.

"They were nervous today, they were very quiet before kick-off and you would hope that going two nil up would settle them down.

"But in the second half Bury were taking chances and pushing people forward.

"What people have to remember is that we have drawn three home games this season, but today we won, so we have got to take the positives from that and not the negatives.

"We have got 14 points and we are in mid-table. Maybe things are starting to go better for us.

"I think we should have had four more points, we should have beaten Stockport and Rushden, but things are picking up. We are now on a run of four games unbeaten."
