Banbury Utd 1, Grantham 1: Banbury United came from behind to earn a useful Southern League Premier Division point against Grantham at Spencer Stadium last night.
They entered the game full of confidence after Saturday's 3-0 victory at Yate, but fell behind after 14 minutes.
A snapshot from Willis Francis was pushed over the bar by Simon Tricker and, from the resultant corner, Grant Brown's shot went in off Tricker's foot.
Banbury equalised in the 41st minute when Andy Baird was pushed in the back inside the box by Steve Evans. From the penalty spot Ady Fuller lashed the ball into the right-hand corner, sending Mario Ziccardi the wrong way.
Grantham had more of the play in the second half and pressed hard for a winner.
After 50 minutes, a free-kick by Tim Wooding was once again pushed over the bar by Tricker.
And with 20 minutes to go, a mistake in the Banbury defence by Fuller and Chris Jackson allowed Grantham in, yet once again Tricker came to the rescue, pushing the shot around the post.
Banbury Utd: Tricker, Blossom, Jackson, Sullivan, Pond, Fuller, Stanbridge, Lamb, Redknap, Baird, Gardner (Potter 57). Subs not used: King, Kinch.
Att: 352.
