Oxford United boss Brian Talbot admits he's still unsure which is his best combination up front.

Speaking after Saturday's pulsating 2-2 local derby against Wycombe at the Kassam Stadium, Talbot said Lee Bradbury, Steve Basham and Craig Davies have all put forward their claims for a striker's place.

But he's undecided, from what he has seen so far, who to put together to make the best pairing.

He began the first league game at Grimsby with Bradbury and Basham, yet chose Davies ahead of Basham on Saturday.

Bradbury is the only one of the three to have scored so far, with his wonder winner against Torquay.

Young striker Danny Morgan staked his claim by coming off the bench to head in a late equaliser against Wycombe.

Talbot said: "It's the one area I haven't sorted out yet.

"I think I've got a decent back four, I've got two good goalkeepers, we're very competitive in midfield, I've got the pace of Chris Hackett, I just want to get my combination right up front.

"I've got Jamie Brooks to look at, Morgan to look at, and I've really got to do it quickly with the transfer deadline coming up.

"I've got five strikers. The question is whether, between those five, have I got two good enough to take us forward?

Morgan snatched a point for the U's with his 88th-minute equaliser after Wycombe had come from behind at half-time to lead thanks to a brace from Nathan Tyson.

Hackett had fired United in front with his first goal at the Kassam Stadium.

Talbot added: "I don't think there's any money available to buy anybody, but I think if I can find a striker that we can afford, I don't think the chairman would be against it."

Davies has gone off with Wales Under 21s to prepare for their match against Malta in Llanelli tomorrow.

Talbot said: "Craig's young. He's learning, he does make mistakes, as all young players do, but he did brilliantly for the first goal.

"Craig has got this aggression, he's got pace, an ability to get behind people, and will hopefully score some goals for us this season.

"I've been quite impressed with Morgan in training. And he comes on, has got a bit of pace and gets a goal."
