HOTSHOT Joey Beauchamp scored a grand winner for United - and a 15-grand

winner for his mate Paul Woodburn.

Beauchamp's last-minute strike at the Manor Ground on Saturday was the final blow in a ten-match prediction Paul had made at the bookies.

Paul, 29, from Woodstock Road, Yarnton, was watching anxiously after seeing nine correct results come up.

And his £5 stake was converted into £15,000 as Joey popped in the 90th-minute goal against Portsmouth.

Joey said: "Paul's been my best mate for years and I went to his wedding in the summer.

"He came round on Saturday evening with his lights flashing and horn blaring, jumped out and said, 'You've just won me £11,500' - because that's what he thought it was at the time.

"He asked me to check the results to make sure it was correct and he was shaking. I'm really pleased for him. It's nice to do a good friend a good turn."

Paul, who goes to every United match with Joey's dad, said: "I've been so excited I've taken the week off work.

"I was so delighted when Oxford scored and it was amazing that it was Joey who scored it. I knew at half-time that six of my results were up and just before the end I was waiting on two - Oxford and one other.

"I can certainly do with the money and will probably buy a new car with the winnings. It's got to be the best bet of my life."

A spokesman at Ladbrokes in Headington said she had never known a fixed-odds bet that had won so much.
