TEENAGE thug Thomas Pancott has been told he will face prison after being found guilty of forcing a motorist to hand over £230 during a cashpoint robbery.

A jury at Oxford Crown Court yesterday convicted 19-year-old Pancott of the offence, which was carried out following a party in Croxford Gardens, Kidlington, in November 1996.

Recorder Nicholas Jarman adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports until March and warned Pancott not to expect to walk free.

He said: "You have been convicted of a serious offence in which a certain amount of unnecessary violence was used.

"This type of offence almost automatically attracts a period of custody and not a particularly short one.

"You must be warned that when you appear that is the likely sentence to be passed upon you."

The court had heard how Pancott, of no fixed address, had climbed into the back of Paul Tuttle's car and punched him in the face.

He told him to drive to a cashpoint at Sainsburys supermarket in Oxford Road, telling him he had a knife.

Mr Tuttle was ordered to make three withdrawals and then take Pancott back to Croxford Gardens.

Pancott also took £5 and a compact disc player which had been in the car.
