SHARON and Alan Woodley and their son Jack used the months and days of their birthdays to scoop nearly £100,000 on the National Lottery.

House husband Alan, 30, was born on January 14, Sharon, 31, on June 22 and their four-year-old son, Jack, on April 24.

They were among 28 lucky ticket holders who all won £92,762 in Saturday's lottery draw by matching five numbers - 1, 4, 6, 14 and 24 plus the bonus ball 22.

It is a formula that has already netted them nearly £200 in smaller prizes before their bumper win. But today the family were taking the big win in their stride and planning no big spending spree.

The couple, who own their three-bedroom Edwardian semi in Lydalls Road, Didcot, plan to invest most of the money. Alan said he would keep his J-reg Ford Escort but he and Sharon, who both enjoy golf, might buy a new set of clubs. The family spend £3 a week on Lottery tickets, using their birth dates on one and having two lucky dips.

Before Saturday, the family had booked two weeks holiday - one week at Butlins in Minehead and one week in a hotel at Blackpool.

But Alan said: "We might go to a more expensive hotel."

He looks after Jack at home while Sharon travels to Heathrow Airport where she works for Worldspan, an airline reservation company.

On Saturday, Sharon at first refused to believe their good luck. It was only when Alan confirmed it on Teletext later that they began to believe their good fortune.

"We were talking in bed until 2am about how to spend it," Alan said.

They bought their winning ticket at Rowena's newsagents, in Brasenose Road, where Rowena Napper was this afternoon helping the family celebrate with champagne and a giant cheque from Camelot who run the lottery.Miss Napper said: "It is nice that someone local has had a good win. Alan usually gets his ticket here.

"I have known a few customers who have won £2,000 before."
