MALCOLM Shotton has swooped to make his first Oxford United signing by taking Sheffield Wednes-day forward O'Neill Donaldson on a month's loan.
The lanky 6ft striker will go straight into United's attack alongside Nigel Jemson in tomorrow's Div-ision 1 game at league leaders Nottingham Forest.
The deal was rushed through this morning for the 28-year-old to be registered in time.
Donaldson will meet up with his new teammates just before kick-off at the City Ground tomorrow before being pitched straight in.
Shotton has seen the former Shrewsbury and Don-caster player several times with Sheffield Wednesday Reserves.
He's quick and has a good scoring record with a spate of goals for the reserves and three goals in four Premier-ship starts, plus six other substitute appearances.
Shotton's assistant, Mal-colm Crosby, said: "Mal-colm's seen him a few times and been impressed. He has good pace.
"We've been searching for a striker on loan for some time and he's one we were able to get, so we snapped him up."
Jemson makes his first return to Forest with Oxford tomorrow, declaring: "I'd just love to score the winner there." Forest was where Jemson made his name - "old big 'ead", Brian Clough used to call him - and he said: "It's my game of the season for an away match and I'm looking forward to it immensely."
It is also Shotton's first official game as United's new manager and, with a spate of injuries, he has to delay naming his team.
Jemson has moved to ten goals this season, to go with the 23 he bagged last season.
He said: "I'd love to get a goal at the City Ground, and the winning goal would be even better.
"Their fans may give me some stick but they were great to me when I was there.
"I'm going to be best man at Mark Crossley's wedding in the summer and will be going out for a drink with some of them after tomorrow's match."
Jemson, out of contract in the summer, revealed that he turned down Birmingham as well as Bury a few weeks ago.
Shotton has worries over his left-back position with Mike Ford, Paul Powell and Simon Marsh all injured while Mark Angel collected a knock during the reserves' midweek win over Arsenal.
