HENDRED'S Peter Baring saddled Shannon Glen to victory in front of a bumper holiday crowd at the Old Berkshire Hunt Point-to-point at Lockinge yesterday.

On perfect racing ground, the 12-year-old gelding eased to an easy 20-length win in the basking sunshine to claim the Opening Member's Race.

Sheila Nash's 'Itsforu' was denied victory by a final flight fall in the maiden race. The Kingston Lisle owner looked odds-on to record a first triumph with the gelding, but he made a blunder at the last and parted company with rider Georgina Browne, to gift the race to Perfect Finisher.

Snow was falling when Bishops Island bolted up 25 lengths clear to win the mixed open race under Brioney Lloyd.

Formerly trained at Lockinge by Henrietta Knight, the 12-year-old took the lead four fences from home and raced clear to record a success for owner Lady Vestey.
