PET mouse Lucky was shaken and stirred when he was put through the spin cycle of his family's washing machine with a load of laundry.

But the fortunate rodent was revived after his ordeal - by being tucked into a bra.

The bra was worn by child-minder Teresa Parker, who cared for the mouse after it had spent all night in a washing machine.

It was a case of Lucky by name, lucky by nature for the pet, when owner Andrew Taylor, ten, of Fairacres Road, Didcot, noticed it had gone missing.

He searched the house with dad David but Lucky was not to be found.

Worried Andrew went to bed, leaving his father to put a load of washing in - hot wash, fast spin cycle - and then go to bed himself.

The next morning Mr Taylor unloaded the washing machine, only to hear Lucky squeaking from a shirt pocket where he had been shivering all night.

The bedraggled mouse was entrusted to Teresa who kept him warm by tucking him into her bra. Lucky was quickly restored to health.

Mr Taylor said: "I just couldn't believe what happened. Teresa was brilliant and nursed Lucky back to health."

One result of Lucky's lucky escape has been to make sure David now always checks the pockets before he puts the washing in.
