ARSONISTS are thought to have started a blaze which caused an estimated £60,000 of damage at a stud farm.

The fire broke out on a truck which was parked near the stable block at Lovegrove Stud in Checkendon, near Wallingford, early yesterday (Thu May 21) morning.

The lorry and the 15 tonnes of hay on the back were destroyed by the fire, which spread to the nearby stables, damaging the roof and side of the building along with food and show jumps which were kept inside.

The stud's 12 horses were being kept in a field away from the stable at the time.

The owner of Lovegrove Stud, Ann Rothbarth, said the fire caused £60,000 worth of damage.

She said: "Whoever did this has made a hell of a mess. said Miss Rothbarth, who lives a few hundred yards away from the stud These people are a pest."
