VISCOUNT Linley, Princess Margaret's son, has given the royal seal of approval to an Oxfordshire College.
He has set up a two-year scholarship to help a student gain a Higher National Diploma in furniture design at Rycotewood College, Thame.
Viscount Linley, is head of David Linley and Co Ltd, which makes individually designed furniture with a worldwide reputation.
He said: "I have always been committed to creating greater awareness of traditional cabinetmaking skills as well as the exciting opportunities in commissioned furniture.
"This scholarship is an endorsement of my own love of the craft and belief in its future importance."
The HND course puts high value on designing and making furniture using both traditional skills and modern technology to produce individual pieces of furniture.
