THE hunt was continuing today for an armed robber who struck at the village garage in Tiddington, near Thame.

The man fled empty-handed after the woman proprietor turned down his demands for cash and pressed a panic button.

The woman was alone at Maule's Garage, in Oxford Road, when the masked raider burst in at about 8.20pm on Friday.

He told her he had a gun in a carrier bag and demanded she emptied the till - but she refused and pressed a panic button under the counter. When the alarm sounded, he ran off.

Police launched a hunt, calling in sniffer dogs and the Thames Valley Police helicopter.

A police spokesman said: "This was a very frightening attack and the lady was very brave."

Detectives want to hear from anyone who was nearby at the time and may have seen the raider.
