IT was party time yesterday as the Oxford Mail's new city centre office opened for business.

Kirsty Ryan and Daniel Begley, both 11, who won a Cinderella panto competition with the Oxford Mail, cut the ribbon on the refurbished New Inn Hall Street offices.

It is six years since the Oxford Mail last had a base in the city centre - and now we are back and better equipped to serve our readers. The new office offers a full range of services from newspaper sales to displays of Oxford souvenirs and mementos.

Customers can place classified advertisements, buy photographs and book reader holidays.

Local artists James Cochrane and Rachel Seamark are also displaying their work at the offices. Oxford Mail Editor Chris Cowley said: "It is great to be back in the heart of the city."

Scores of customers took the chance to see the new offices and have a free drink of Archers Schnapps yesterday.

Pat Pulford, of Wilsdon Way, Kidlington, was enjoying looking through recent copies of our newspapers. She said: "I think this is a very good idea because I have missed the city centre office."

"I think that if people want to put something in the paper, it is easier to come here. The people are very helpful."
