OXFORD United's proposed signing of Aberdeen striker Dean Windass is dragging on.

The £475,000 club record deal still hadn't gone through by last night, with the club awaiting results from one final scan, though the club are hopeful it will be completed later this week, they say.

United have also cancelled the press conference scheduled for today. Said manager Malcolm Shotton: "From what I gather we're not going to have the press conference because all the details about Windass's transfer have already come out."

He added: "Dean will join us for training and everything's been agreed. He and I have signed all the contracts and forms and we're now just waiting for Keith (Cox) to sign them but he's not around at the moment because he's involved in other meetings."
